Radin Mas Bed Distribution

RADIN MAS BED DISTRIBUTION ABOUT INITIATIVE The Radin Mas Bed Distribution is a meaningful initiative under Project Sayang, in collaboration with Project Refresh, aimed at providing essential bedding items to low-income families. This effort brought together a diverse group of volunteers, organizations including Quan Mei as well as community partners from Radin Mas CC and the People’s Association. Together, they distributed critical bedding essentials,  to residents in need. The distribution spanned several days and successfully delivered bed frames and mattresses to about 550 low-income families in the Redhill-Radin Mas constituency. This initiative not only addressed immediate needs but also contributed to improving the living conditions and well-being of the beneficiaries. THE PROCESS The distribution process began with volunteers packing and allocating bed frames and mattresses to various areas within the Redhill-Radin Mas constituency at a central holding area. From there, volunteer organizations split up to cover their assigned zones, gathering the allocated items and transporting them to the respective blocks. Teams then delivered the bedding essentials directly to residents’ units, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. This hands-on approach allowed volunteers to connect with the community while providing much-needed support to low-income families. In some cases, volunteers went the extra mile by helping to dismantle existing or old bed frames to make space for the new ones being delivered. This additional effort ensured that residents could seamlessly transition to their new bedding essentials, further enhancing their comfort and living conditions. Their dedication and attention to detail highlighted the commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the beneficiaries. The video below provides an insightful look into the Radin Mas Bed Distribution, which took place from December 2020 to January 2021 during the challenging COVID-19 period. Volunteers assist with packing, organizing, and delivering supplies, working together to reach as many residents as possible. Through this collaborative effort, the initiative fosters a strong spirit of community care and support, bringing relief and comfort to families during the holy month. THE PROCESS The distribution process begins with volunteers carefully sorting and packaging essential items into individual bags, ensuring that each unit in the Redhill-Radin Mas contingency received the necessary supplies. This preparation stage was crucial in organizing the items efficiently for smooth delivery. Once all the bags were packed, volunteers gathered on the designated day, ready to distribute the items to the residents. On the day of distribution, the packed bags are systematically loaded into vehicles, including those provided by Tesla Car Club members, to facilitate efficient transport. After all the bags are loaded, Grassroots Advisor Mr. Melvin Yong flags off the initiative, marking the start of the deliveries as volunteers set off to different areas in Radin Mas. Project Sweet Dreams

PROJECT SWET DREAMS ABOUT INITIATIVE In light of the New Year and the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, Quan Mei Design & Construction partnered with Radin Mas CC and volunteers to help distribute essential bedding items—including pillows, mattresses, and bedsheets—along with additional necessities like bedframes, refrigerators, and televisions to residents of rental flats in the Redhill-Radin Mas contingency. This initiative aimed to provide residents with a more comfortable living environment and ensure they could enjoy a restful night’s sleep with the support received. THE PROCESS In preparation for the initiative, the Quan Mei team was tasked with packaging the bedsheets, pillowcases, and pillows for distribution in the Redhill – Radin Mas area. The team began by separating the prepared items according to the total number required by each block in the area and eventually packed them to be ready for the two-day distribution. On distribution day, the Quan Mei Design & Construction team, along with volunteers from Radin Mas CC and other organizations, assembled at their designated reporting locations to kick off the initiative. The day began with unloading the prepared items, ensuring everything was ready for smooth distribution. Before heading out, the volunteers attended a briefing that covered the distribution process, important guidelines, and best practices to ensure the items were delivered efficiently and respectfully to the residents. Following the briefing, the team was divided into smaller groups, each assigned to specific blocks within the Redhill-Radin Mas area. Equipped with their designated items, the volunteers went door to door, personally delivering bedding essentials and household necessities to residents in need. The collective effort aimed to bring comfort and joy to the community while fostering a spirit of giving and togetherness. Metta Recycled Tote Bags

METTA RECYCLED TOTE BAGS ABOUT INITIATIVE In preparation for Quan Mei’s 40th Anniversary celebration,  Quan Mei Design & Construction Pte Ltd partnered with Metta Welfare Association and community partners from Radin Mas Community Centre for a special project: the creation of recycled tote bags.  These unique tote bags, crafted through collaboration with Metta individuals and community partners, as well as Speco were used as gift tote bags along with specially prepared gifts to express our heartfelt appreciation to clients, associates, and partners during the celebration event. This project stemmed from an initiative created by Quan Mei, called Project E3: Ecocycle, Ecoshare, Ecolove. The initiative promotes sustainability by recycling and repurposing old furniture while supporting those in need. As part of this initiative, Quan Mei collected various items such as furniture, curtains, and bedding from sources such as our project clients, the community, and more. In this case, bedding was collected from a hospitality project client. Inspired by the idea of recycling, it was proposed that bedding be transformed into tote bags. To bring this vision to life, Quan Mei partnered with the Metta Welfare Association, community partners, and Speco, who disinfected the materials. Metta and the community partners then took on the main role of crafting the tote bags featuring batik handles, contributing their skills to the success of this meaningful project. THE PROCESS After collecting the bedding from our clients, the bedding was checked and sorted into piles which were then disinfected by Speco using their award-winning antimicrobial technology. After the disinfection process, Metta individuals and community partners took charge of the cutting process as well as the sewing of the tote bag along with beautiful batik-designed handles. After the bags were completed, the Quan Mei 40th Anniversary logo design was printed onto the bags and packed, ready for use.
